The Menil Collection

Working with a group, Rylie Davis, Lene Sollie, Jane Van Velden. Field Study 02 asked us to look at a portion of the Menil Collection and speculate the construction by observation and deductive reasoning. Our group chose the East courtyard to study in our drawing. The drawing is a butterfly axonometric that explores the layered construction of the wall and roof assemblies.
Butterfly Axonometric The selection of the East courtyard. The building was drawn at the moment we observed it, including warped siding and Allora and Calzadilla's "Graft". The layers of the wall assembly and roof assembly are exposed by the section. The dirt on the roof glazing documents the current conditions, rather than an ideal.
